Abstract

Unilateral resistance training is widely used in football, yet unilateral exercises differ substantially in their mechanical, coordinative, and task-related demands. This letter proposes neuromechanical specificity as a conceptual framework integrating these dimensions to guide exercise selection, enhance exercise-task alignment, and generate hypotheses regarding football-specific performance transfer.
